    Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2019

Posted on October 11, 2018 by Jack

The 2019 release of Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible has hit the shelves, and the year’s most anticipated whisky ratings are in. American whiskey has topped the list again, as well as clinching 3rd Place with a Rye whiskey. Glen Grant 18 Years has moved up from 3rd Place to 2nd Place this year, the same position it took in the 2017 Whisky Bible. Passions are high, bottles are flying off the shelves. Let’s take a closer look.

2019 World Whisky of the Year

    William Larue Weller 128.2 Proof

W.L. Weller has consistently secured top-three spots in the past few years, remaining an old favourite of Jim Murray’s. Originally created by Buffalo Trace Distillery in response to consumer requests for more well-aged and barrel strength whiskey, W.L. Weller is a wheated bourbon named after a distiller who was reputedly one of the first to replace rye with wheat in the mash bill. This release in particular has been distilled in 2005, and bottled in the fall of 2017, and belongs as one of five bottles annually released in the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection (BTAC).

Sadly, this bottling has already sold out on the primary market. We at WhiskyCiti will be acquiring very limited stock later this year. Feel free to contact us to reserve a bottle.

2019 Second Finest Whisky of the Year

    Glen Grant 18 Year Old

One of the enduring favourites, Glen Grant 18 has consistently stayed in the top-three since 2017. Elegant, well-balanced, and complex, this is sure to be sold out shortly.

2019 Third Finest Whisky of the Year

Thomas H. Handy Sazerac 127.2 Proof

Also part of the BTAC, this bottling has probably sold out everywhere. We recommend checking with your local trusted liquor purveyors. This is a Rye drinker’s dream and a huge favourite in the community.
